Since 1994 I have worked for conservation in several countries:

National Park Waddensea | Germany | Sweden | New Zealand | South Africa | USA | Ecuador | Papua New Guinea |

1999, 2005-2009

In 1999 I worked as a volunteer in a project in the Rincon Mountains in Arizona, studying the effects of prescribed burning on forest bird communities.

From 2005 through 2009 I worked in Alaska, conducting research for my PhD on the ecology of King Eiders. I used stable isotopes and satellite telemetry to explore breeding ecology and migratory connectivity of this charismatic Arctic duck [photos of the work]. I was also involved in several shorebird and songbird projects and helped as a volunteer at the Fairbanks banding station of the Alaska Bird Observatory
